04 Oct Year 2 visit to Littlehampton Beach
Topic: Beachcombers
On 19th September, Year 2 visited Littlehampton Beach. What a wonderful day it was! The children arrived extremely excited to be going on their first school trip of the year. They came straight into the classroom at 8:45am and prepared to leave immediately. The children came prepared with their lunch, water bottle, sun hat, bucket and spade. Despite the journey being lengthy, the children found entertainment through playing games such as ‘I spy’. Upon arrival at Littlehampton the children could not wait to get off the coach and finally get on to the beach. As soon as they had placed their belongings down the children were ready to explore the pebbles and the sand. There was digging, burying, castle making, village making, shell and pebble collections and plenty more. The children were able to make use of the sandy part of the beach, however not for very long, as the tide was swiftly coming in. All the holes and sand castles that the children had built were washed away within seconds. They found themselves in awe at how quickly they were moving back up the beach and how quickly their building works were being taken over by the sea. The children then sat down to enjoy their delicious lunches. After lunch it was time for the children to dip their feet into the sea. This was a highlight for the children, the water was cold and the waves were coming in fast. The children absolutely loved it. Once they had finished dipping their feet, they had a few more minutes to play on the beach, and then it was time for the journey back to school. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all children and adults.
We look forward to more trips throughout the school year.
