10 Feb Year 2 explore the solar system!
Year 2 are thoroughly enjoying their topic Moon Zoom. They have used books and the internet to learn facts about each planet and its location in the Solar System.
The children used inflatable planets to explore how the distance from the Sun affects how long it takes the planet to orbit the sun.
Having explored how the planets orbit the sun, the children in Year 2 co-operated as a year group, using the technique of papier mache to create their own Solar System.
They carefully laid layers of paper over the balloons, bowls and even a gym ball! They covered the paper with glue and waited for each layer to dry before they added another. Then they carried on adding layers until each planet was strong. Finally they painted the planets based on the facts they had learned.
Everyone is really enjoying learning lots more about Space and Space Travel. We are all looking forward to the launch of Artemis II!
